Student Success Tools in UTD’s New Student Communication System

1. Student Success Team & Referrals for Support
Students will see faculty and staff assigned to support their success at UT Dallas in their new student portal. Staff and faculty also can refer students to academic and nonacademic resource centers.
2. Action Plans & Student Tasks
Action Plans can be leveraged to nudge students for important milestones and activities that support their success including completing onboarding to-do items.
3. Student Interaction Notes
Student interaction notes will replace StudentBook, providing helpful background about a student’s interactions with their success team and other units across campus.
4. Calendar Management & Appointment Scheduling
Students can schedule appointments with their success team in their new student portal. The new system allows for customization of availability and visibility of appointments times and leverages the Riva app for Microsoft Outlook integration.
5. Snapshot of Key Student Information from Peoplesoft
Staff and faculty will see basic demographic and enrollment information about students from Peoplesoft.
6. Communicate with Students via E-mail/SMS
Faculty and staff can communicate directly to students via email and SMS in multiple ways including sending emails directly from the system, which are tracked in student interaction notes.
