New Wellness Leave Benefit for Employees
July 8, 2024
As of July 1, benefits-eligible employees at UT Dallas can take up to eight hours each academic year for wellness activities. To earn wellness leave, employees must receive an annual physical/preventative care examination and complete an online health risk/well-being assessment.
Time away from duties must be approved in advance by the employee’s manager/supervisor in accordance with unit approval protocols. Managers/supervisors are expected to grant time away from duties when feasible for UTD wellness activities in support of employee wellness.
Employees may attend any UTD-sponsored wellness activities such as health/benefits fairs, flu shot clinics, financial seminars, and employee assistance program events without using accrued leave or their wellness time allotment. Benefits-eligible employees with at least six months of service with UT Dallas may receive a maximum of eight hours of wellness time each fiscal year.
