Learn How To Improve Accessibility of Class Content
January 22, 2025
An upcoming webinar will provide information for UT Dallas instructors on how to make content more accessible and why it’s required by federal law.
The Center for Teaching and Learning will host Accessibility: Law, Not Luxury on Wednesday, Feb. 12, from 11:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m.
The virtual session will focus on the critical impact and reasons for ensuring that UT Dallas content is accessible and inclusive for all students.
By April 2026, UT Dallas will be required to meet federal laws (WCAG 2.1 A and AA Standards) based on the ADA Title II Rule Update.
In this training, faculty, staff, postdocs and graduate students will explore:
- The legal requirements and standards for digital accessibility.
- The importance of creating inclusive content that benefits all students, including those who require accommodation.
- Practical strategies and tools to make your digital content more accessible.
Ensuring accessibility is not just a legal obligation but a moral imperative to support the diverse needs of our student body. By attending this training, you will gain valuable insights and skills to enhance the learning experience for everyone.
Participating in the session may fulfill part of the requirements for the graduate teaching certificate and postdoctoral teaching certificate programs.
Register by Tuesday, Feb. 11 for a calendar invite.
This session will be recorded, and the link will be shared with those who RSVP.
