Empower Your Mind at BrainHealth Week Events

The UT Dallas Center for Brain Health invites faculty, staff and students to participate in the center’s BrainHealth Week events, Feb. 24 to March 1, with a goal of thriving through life with better brain health.
Many of the events will be held on the UTD campus in Richardson.
Mindful Spaces: Enhancing Brain Health and Student Success Through the Built Environment
BrainHealth Week at UT Dallas kicks off on Monday, Feb. 24, at noon in the McDermott Suite (MC 4.404). Enjoy a free lunch as we explore the link between brain-healthy design and behavioral health with Dr. Debbie Beck and Vandana Nayak, both from the award-winning architecture firm Perkins&Will. Explore ideas for brain-healthy environments and join the launch of an interactive brain charging station, inviting students to unplug and recharge their minds.
Art of BrainHealth: Student Art Competition
Students from UT Dallas and Dallas College will compete for cash prizes — including a live audience vote for people’s choice — at the sixth annual student art competition on Tuesday, Feb. 25, from 4:30 to 6 p.m., at the Edith and Peter O’Donnell, Jr. Athenaeum.
This year’s contest takes place alongside the breathtaking architecture and world-class collections in the O’Donnell Athenaeum. No registration is required.
Art of BrainHealth: Night at the Museum
Celebrate the connection between art and brain health on Tuesday, Feb. 25, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., at the Edith and Peter O’Donnell, Jr. Athenaeum. Join other young professionals for Night at the Museum, a networking reception and museum visit, hosted by Center for BrainHealth’s The Think Tank in collaboration with the Crow Museum of Asian Art. Must be 21 or older to attend. Advance registration for Night at the Museum is required.
Let’s Talk Sleep! Learn Insights, Tips and Strategies for Improving Your Sleep Based on the Latest Sleep Science
Gain an overview of sleep and its importance in health and well-being on Thursday, Feb. 27, from 1:30 to 3 p.m. at Naveen Jindal School of Management (JSOM 1.118). UTD professors Dr. Heidi Kane and Dr. Meg Flanigan will explore various factors that affect sleep quality, address common sleep myths and offer practical tips for better sleep.
Stay after the talk for an interactive Q&A and ask these experts your most pressing sleep-related questions. Receive a sleep kit filled with items specifically chosen to enhance sleep quality and enter a drawing for a surprise grand prize. No registration is required.
Neuroscapes: Mapping the Mind Through Photography
Explore the profound intersection of art and brain health with Neuroscapes on Thursday, Feb. 27, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., at the Center for BrainHealth’s Brain Performance Institute. The exhibit and interactive experience will feature thought-provoking photographs from four Dallas-based artists.
Celebrates culture, community and creativity through meaningful dialogue with a dynamic panel of local thought leaders, exploring how art shapes our understanding of brain health. Must be at least 21 to attend this event. Advance registration for Neuroscapes is required.
BrainHealth Week Family Fair
Families will have a blast at this free community event on Saturday, March 1, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Center for BrainHealth’s Brain Performance Institute. The annual BrainHealth Week Family Fair offers a whirlwind journey into the human brain — with brain-healthy games, food, arts, crafts, activities and surprises.
Activities include:
- Coaching Your Brain, with former Dallas Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett.
- Creativity and the Brain, with young author Shawn Letford.
- Storytelling Through Indian Dancing, with Uma Kymal.
- Engineering Your Brain, with KERA Kids.
- Brain Gain Treasure Hunt, a self-paced and brainy activity.
- Brain-building activities, family-friendly fun connecting brain health to everyday life.
