Mendoza Named Chief Human Resources Officer

October 1, 2025

Marco Mendoza MPA’18, who has worked at The University of Texas at Dallas since 2013, has been appointed as the University’s new chief human resources officer. He has served as interim chief human resources officer since March.

Since joining UT Dallas in 2013 as the inaugural director of institutional equity/EEO, Mendoza has led strategic initiatives in compliance and HR, including expanding professional development programs, strengthening Title IX processes, and supporting departments through organizational challenges.

Prior to UT Dallas, he held senior HR and compliance roles at the University of North Texas Health Science Center, where he oversaw employee relations, EEO programs and ADA coordination for both students and staff. Earlier in his career, he held key roles in employment and compensation, leading classification and pay plan redesigns and modernizing recruitment operations to attract and retain talent.

“Marco’s experience and his deep knowledge of our institution working in both Human Resources and Institutional Compliance make him the ideal candidate to serve as our chief human resources officer,” said Rafael Martín PhD’20, vice president for administration and chief of staff. “Marco has already made a positive impact in his interim role, and I know that he will be a great leader for this essential institutional function.”

As Mendoza begins his new position, Heather Dragoo has been promoted to assistant vice president and Title IX coordinator in the Office of Institutional Compliance, which provides guidance and support to all organizational units, faculty, staff, and students in the areas of compliance support, equal opportunity & Title IX, and youth protection.
